In numerous photovoltaic installations, the dc isolator is often incorporated within the dc/ac power inverter. Even after switching off this isolator, the cables connecting the dc solar panels to the dc/ac power inverter, which run through the structure, can still carry voltages up to 1000 v dc. During a fire emergency, this poses a grave risk to firefighters. The ONCCY firefighter safety switch is designed to address this issue. By directly severing the dc current close to the solar panels, it helps establish a safer environment for firefighters to operate in.

 

1. MANUAL AC POWER SHUT DOWN

The first step for any firefighter in fighting a fire is to shut down the main AC power circuit. This makes it possible to start extinguishing the actual

fire without the risk of electrocution. Onccy developed the Firefighter safety Switch according to this standard international safety routine. This prevents firefighters from having to take any extra action in case of a fire, maximizing their and your safety in the event of a fire.

1. AUTOMATIC DC POWER SHUT DOWN

As soon as a firefighter shuts down the main AC circuit, the ERS/ERP will detect this. If this power down situation lasts longer than 5 seconds, the

ERS/ERP will automatically switch to the OFF position. Since the ERS/ERP is located close to the PV modules, the high voltage DC current from the PV modules will be completely isolated, which leaves a safe situation for the firefighters when fighting a fire in the commercial or residential building.
