In many photovoltaic setups, the dc isolator is combined with the dc/ac power inverter. Even after turning off the dc isolator, the cables connecting the dc solar panels to the dc/ac power inverter, which traverse the building, can still carry up to 1000 volts of dc electricity. During a fire emergency, this poses a grave risk to firefighters. The ONCCY firefighter safety switch addresses this issue by severing the dc current near the solar panels, thereby enhancing safety for firefighters.
